Avoid Holiday Gall Bladder Wows

Avoid Holiday Gall Bladder Wows

Did you know that more gall bladders are removed between Thanksgiving and New Years than any other time of the Year?  Yes.  It’s a fact.

Why?  Because we love the festivities of the season, including an endless array of rich foods, holiday cheer, nuts and assorted goodies that surround us for about six weeks.  The sheer volume takes the gall bladder right over the top, versus our usual intake.  All of this stacks up and the gall bladder often says, “Bah!  Humbug!  Enough!”

So what’s the solution?  When you experience dull or sharp pain between your shoulder blades – in your right upper back, this is your gall bladder hollering at you,
“Enough!”

You can take care of it by taking a few days off from the food festival.  Avoid anything that will “crunch” or make noise when you eat it.  For example: nuts, chips, raw veggies, raw apples or pears, raw salads and the obvious high fatty foods.

These are all the things that are typically good for us, unless the gall bladder is put under great stress.  Within a couple of days, preferably a week, you are ready to enjoy the holiday spirit again.   A little moderation can save you an unwanted trip to the hospital this holiday season.  Just remember to rest your digestive system a little bit between parties.  It will love you for it!
